hello, new to the forum, just wondering if other users have made plans for New Year's Eve in the local area? I heard the Honor Oak was doing a ticket event that has now sold out. Anyone know what's happening in the other pubs?

Well, there will be Irish music in the Blythe and the atmosphere was pleasantly breathable last year. In previous years it was absolutely rammed with people that, as a regular, I didn't recognise. Good place to celebrate it. Also you can go up to Blythe Hill Fields and watch the Central London fireworks if that takes your fancy.

Go to the top of Canonbie and watch the fireworks?

Michael,

I've never been up Canonbie Road. Is there an open space at the top from which to view? Or will there be a lot of residents elbowing for a view from a small vantage point?

Not really an open space, but residents will most likely be in their houses on the top floors with the best views. However others do go up there to watch the fireworks, see last years entries: http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=267

Apparently last years view of the Thames was great but it is a bit far away and the fireworks do not appear to go very high, just a perspective thing.

To be honest I'm not that bothered about fireworks, was more wondering about parties/pubs etc. Nothing special, just a local social type thing.

I had been planning on going out with my brother but he has to be at work for 8.30am on Tuesday - so that idea has kind of gone out the window,

Cheers for suggestion anyway, Greg.

Hello GregW,

The Hob rings in the New Year with a band. And fireworks. And a raffle! The magic starts at 8pm.
