If you've ever wondered what the regular morning drilling sound is that can be heard around Horniman Drive and, on quiet days, can be heard from near Forest Hill Station - it's a small woodpecker drilling the metal telephone mast. Here's a picture - it's not great quality as I was some distance away. I'm sure its beak must be getting blunt from drilling metal!

It is a new camera and clearly my camera work is not very good, and you can listen to Something for the Weekend in the background.

I should mention that they are videos of woodpeckers, green and greater spotted, in the same tree about 30 minutes apart. They are regular visitors.
