Does anyone know if this is true or just rumour? I overheard ticket inspectors at Waterloo East this morning mentioning the installation of ticket barriers there, where all the ramps come up from the platforms. Surely that would create massive queues for people trying to get to Waterloo station itself.

Cannot see any gates in the (withdrawn) plans for the new exit, but that doesn't mean that there won't be any ATG. It looked like they had installed Oyster Readers last time I walked through, but I may be wrong.

I used Waterloo East recently and didn't see any Oyster readers when I used the Waterloo Road exit.

There are new wooden barriers at the top of the stairs from Waterloo Road as well as covered PAYG swiper on the footbridge. How they complete the barriering of Waterloo East without causing congestion and safety concerns I don't know, but then I still think the Perry Vale exit is dangerous.
