Hi all

I'm looking to move from our small flat to a proper house, and have looked around a few of the nice 1930s houses in Forest Hill, nr Colfe and Cranston Roads.

They seem great, but I'm a little concerned about the party walls and noise from neighbours travelling through them.

Can anyone help me on this - do you live in one of the 1930s terraced houses, and have any feedback on how thin/thick the walls are??

Thanks
eddiet

I live in a 1930s terrace (though neither on Colfe nor Cranston) and find it blissfully quiet compared to my last house which was a small Victorian terrace.

I live in a 30s house but not on those roads, and I have to say that the walls are pretty thick and soundproof, unlike many of the Victorians I have been to. However they didn't have sound systems in those days.....

I live in Cranston Road and experience no problems regarding noise.

In fact, I love my houseThumbsup

We've lived on Cranston for 10 years, and they are great houses. Yes, sometimes you can hear the neighbours, but in general it is quiet.

Our next door neighbour's daughter was learning the violin - strangled cats or what! But they didn't complain either when we had all night parties and played Motorhead. Gotta give and take...

But if you've lived in a flat/conversion with people clumping on the floor above, then an Edwardian semi will make you think you've gone deafLaugh
