Hi, we moved in to Vancouver Road a few months ago and have noticed the building work at the junction of Hurstbourne and Stanstead road. From what I can make out from internet searches it's giong to be a block of new flats but it also seems they had some trouble last year as they weren't following building regs. The site does look a bit of a mess, certainly not like the posh, clean looking Foreshi Hill Central site next to the station. Does anyone know anymore about this? Are they still allowed to go ahead?

Hi Bjorn,
I've lived not far from this site for over a year now and it's been a mess all that time, although it now looks like buildings are finally going up. For a large part of this year/end of last year there was nothing happening on the site, one neighbouring property's back garden had fallen into the hole they'd dug (this looks like it has now been fixed), and whenever I walked past there would be eiether no-one working on site, or one bloke in a hardhat looking bemused and standing around. The end of Hurstbourne Road is still being used as a dumping ground by the builders but hopefully one day it will all be finished.....

at least the guy you saw had a hard hat - noticed this morning that out of 6 people (yes, 6!) on site - only one was wearing the correct gear.

Its the leaning lampost of Hurstbourne Road that i want fixing the most! Very dark up there without it working....

Thanks for that. Hopefully it will all be done soon. It looks like there are some signs of the building being completed.

This building is certainly going to make an impact. It's already imposing with three storeys on the corner and there are still another two floors to go up! It all seems OTT for this stretch of Stanstead Road - wouldn't be surprised to see Foxton's doing the marketing.

Any closer to Stanstead Road and the residents could wait for a bus in their own front rooms!
