Was having supper in the Capitol and spoke to a resident of Taymount. He had been refused entry to the road. Apparently there has been a suspcious death and there was a body in the street.

Road now open, no doubt we will read a two line snippet in the local rag about it next week.

I noticed a car on a recovery vehicle being chaperoned out of Taymount Rise at around 10pm by a remaining police car after the road had re-opened. Not entirely sure if it had anything to do with whatever happened however.

We think it did, it was originally parked right by where the initial emergency vehicles had been and the removal was being supervised by the same policewoman who'd been there all night.

My husband left at about 5.15pm to pick up our son from nursery and we couldn't get back up until about 9.30pm (at which point we had to wait for the recovery vehicle to move out of the way!). Fortunately our friends were able to offer shelter from the cold and wet.........

Heard reports of a gunshot too.

From what I understand and have pieced together from observing what occurred, having being marooned ourselves, and talking to other residents, and being in the marooned party in The Capitol- someone was very seriously injured or died very close to the entrance of the the church that is divided into flats - the fact that CID investigated the area seems to suggest that a serious crime occurred ? Obviously a real tragedy for any victims and their families. This is the price we all pay for living in the big smoke - we shouldnt lose sight that Taymount Rise and Forest Hill are good places to live and should even get better. Always sad that it sometimes takes a trajedy or emergency for neighbours to get to know one another. Maybe a neighbourhood watch scheme might be a good idea?

This is not a purely London occurence and I don't think anyone is losing sight that we are living in a good place.

We had leaflets through our door about a neighbourhood watch scheme a while ago but we received no follow up information. Unfortunately in our household we have neither the time nor the recources to be in charge of setting one up.

I thought other Taymount Rise residents would be reassured to hear that reports of gunshots being heard were just the result of an overactive imagination. According to the South London Press:

"A 63 year old man found dead in a car has been named. Police were alterted at around 4.40pm on Tuesday after the body of rashmi vora, of Grassmount, Forest Hill, was seen slumped in a black Mercedes people carrier in nearby Taymount Rise. A Met spokesman has confirmed Mr. Vora's death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed".

My condonences to Mr. Rashmi's family.
