Hello everyone!

Seeking advise on how to manage taxes between the UK and Germany.

I'm about to start my PhD in Germany while still owning a home in SE23, UK. The house was inherited and is now rented out.

Here are my key concerns:

  • How does the rental income from my UK property affect my tax obligations in Germany as a PhD student receiving a stipend/TV-L Salary?
  • Given that I will be residing in Germany, what are my tax obligations in relation to the rental income from the home in SE23 as well as from the income I am going to receive in Germany?
Any advice on overseas tax arrangements or similar experiences would be much welcomed. Also, has anyone used a salary calculator like this to help them comprehend the variations in taxation in Germany?

Thank you for any guidance or shared experiences you can offer!
