Dear friends and neighbours,

My name is Billy Harding, and I am one of the three Labour councillors elected to represent Forest Hill ward on Lewisham Council, alongside Councillors Peter Bernards and Sophie Davis.

I am posting to introduce myself as your ward councillor, and to use this as a channel where local residents can raise and discuss issues with us.

You can also get in touch with us via email:

sophie.davis@lewisham.gov.uk
peter.bernards@lewisham.gov.uk
billy.harding@lewisham.gov.uk

Or by visiting our Surgeries, which are from 11am - 12.30pm on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at Forest Hill Library, on Dartmouth Road SE23.

Please note that Forest Hill ward does not cover all of the area known as Forest Hill - parts of which will come under Perry Vale and Crofton Park wards. If you are not sure exactly which ward you are in/ issue is in you can check using the council's website here: https://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/...ember.aspx

If any issues are more urgent or confidential then please use our email addresses above - but please use this thread for any general discussion or thoughts on where we can be of service!

Many thanks,

Billy

Councillor Billy Harding
Labour Councillor for Forest Hill

Hi Billy,

we got an email about the somewhat scruffy state of the pavements from the station up to Horniman, mostly by the shops on London Road. I wonder if there's some kind of pavement cleaning team at Lewisham that we could book in to power-wash things and make it look a bit nicer? I know it's fairly temporary but it looks like it hasn't been done for years.

It's so dirty up at the corner with Waldenshaw that when it's damp it's a proper ice-rink from all the algae/moss growing there.

nottinghillbilly - thank you!

clausym - I will speak to the environment team to see if we can get a pressure washer booked in. I agree that some of the pavements do look grubby on London & Dartmouth rds.

On a related point, we are currently organising a 'community clean up' to pick up litter and tidy parts of the ward. This will be ward councillors and any residents who want to help - I will let you know as soon as we have some dates pencilled in. If anyone does have any areas in the ward they think should be prioritised also let me know.

Hi Billy, thanks for responding - pressure washer would be great if we can get that organised.

Re community clean up I'd suggest some clean up on David's Road, especially from the Ambulance Station down to the Circular - load of weeds growing on the pavement and the small trees have got really bushy and messy around the base - they could do with a trim. If we could try to get some brown bins out on the street then we could make it look a lot nicer with some pruning.

Is there any way that you can put some pressure on thames water to finally fix the leak at London Road running from the Alley alongside where Matoom and the old Barber shop is?
Originally the leak ran at the back of the flats and then onto Taymount rise it appears Thames water have somehow re-routed this and it now runs down the Service road to the parade of shops.
Its like Chicken run morning and evening trying to avoid not being soaked with spray as passing traffic drives through the resulting large puddle.
This leak has been ongoing for weeks and weeks, and Its such a waste of water!
Thank you!

Don't suppose anything can be done about the tyre shop on Stansted Rd using the pavement for storage. Have reported it via fix my street but so far no joy.

nottinghillbilly and Sherwood - I totally agree, I have had to time my walking past there to avoid getting soaked. I had engaged with Thames Water via Twitter and was told that it was a private leak and they were in communication with the property owner. I have also raised this with the Council's highways team in the hope that they can escalate. As of today there are some Thames Water vehicles at the site, and part of the road is closed off, so hopefully it can be resolved - although it should not have taken this long for something to happen!

This seems to be a reoccuring issues with L&Q who I understand are the freeholder of those flats and land. The leak on Taymount Rise mentioned earlier was not just clean water as it seemed to stain the pavement white and attracted a LOT of flies and algae.

That also took weeks to be addressed.

Snazy - I believe that shop is in Perry Vale ward so you may want to reach out to your councillors there. You can also report obstructions to roads and pavements here: https://lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/roads...structions

@HannahM I have reason to think that this is the same leak but re-routed.
so instead of running into Taymount rise it now surfaces via a series of green Hoses to the access area behind the shops on London Rd

Hmm - what ever the situation is there is clearly something not right with their drainage and plumbing!

The leak is still running this morning but there does seem to be some activity from Thames Water in the area now.

Seen multiple leaks across the borough from Forest Hill to Hither Green today, when oh when are Thames Water going to get these repairs done before it gets cold and even more, larger and longer burst mains happen.

It not only disrupts water supplies but puts buses on long diversions, i.e. P4 A G A I N.

Thames Water need to act.... NOW

@cllrbillyharding
Could you please go to the September Southern Timetable changes thread
Is there anything that you can do to put pressure on Southern rail to reinstate our 4 trains an hour service during peak times?
For such a busy station the train service into Forest Hill is disgusting and the Overground at peak times is horrendously overcrowded.
PLUS..
On another note the leak on London road is back in full force.

HannahM and nottinghillbilly - I have been told that the leak is from an L&Q property and they are carrying out works today. I will have a look later but also let me know if nothing is done. I am annoyed it has taken this long (again!)

nottinghillbilly - Happy to do what we can as Councillors to raise this. I understand Lewisham MPs have previously raised this with Southern so will speak to Ellie Reeves MP's team.

Thanks - there always seem to be problems with leaks and blocked drains from that block!
