Hi I have an address for my parents having lived at The Mount Taymount Rise in 1955. I understand that this address no longer exists, I would really appreciate it if anyone could shed any light! Thank you.

My understanding is that the block called Forest Croft (built in the late '20s, early '30s I think) is now built on the site of the house what was The Mount at the top of Taymount Rise.

The existing 'pillar' at the entrance to the driveway might well be contemporary with the Mount.

Thank you for your reply, yes that is pretty much what I understand too. I'm still confused though as to how my parents could have had the address The Mount in 1955.

We have some old areal photography of the Taymount Grange during construction which might be of interest, is this house your discussing?

And before it was built.

Hello Chris I've been doing a bit of research myself as I can see from my birth certificate that my parents were living at the Mount in January 1956. I presume this could have been quite a big residency divided into flats? It would be good to find out when it was built in some history but that may be impossible now.

Electoral registration records should be available at The Town Hall. But I think you would need to work back each year to find out when it was built.
