Met Police officer faces multiple charges after incident in Lewisham

A Met Police officer has been charged with a number of offences - including three counts of intentional strangulation.

PC Thomas Andrews was today charged with actual bodily harm, criminal damage and three counts of intentional strangulation following an incident on July 9.

It happened at around 1am in Brockley Rise, SE23, when patrolling officers were alerted by a member of the public.

They spoke to a man and established that he was PC Andrews, an off-duty police officer attached to the Central South Command Unit.

A woman at the location, who was known to him, reported she had been assaulted and her phone damaged.

He was arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage and subsequently charged.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed and he has been suspended from duty.
