Today was the nadir..
I was unable to get yet another favour from my manager to leave early enough to get the last Overground to FH I left work at 5.45pm waited for a 12 at Oxford Circus..and got home at 8pm!
This evenings journey made me realise how utterly awful our corner of South east London is when it comes to getting a bus back from central London.
I considered walking to Tottenham court Road for the 176 but that route seems especially prone to suddenly terminating early without warning.
Very frustrating.
I love our area but the commute of the past week has really dragged me down.
Sorry..just wanted to vent!
I wish the 176 still terminated at Oxford Circus !

I was on Dartmouth Road just after 7pm, the station closed early for obvious reasons while the 122 to Crystal Palace was completely full as there's no trains up to CP.

Another option worth trying is to get the Northern line to Oval and then get a 185 or to Brixton and get the P4.

Christmas Eve 24th December:

Southern: No service due to industrial action.

London Overground: Trains operate until around 6pm due to industrial action. A 15 minute service operates between Dalston Junction and Sydenham with services to Highbury & Islington, West Croydon and Crystal Palace every 30 mins. Last train from Whitechapel at 1745 and Canada Water at 1753.

Southeastern (Hayes line): It appears Southeastern will operate some kind of service in the morning until the early afternoon. Final service seems to be the 1310 from Charing Cross. Final train into Charing Cross from Catford Bridge at 1420. However I'll keep an eye to see what changes, but Southeastern are recommending that they'll be winding down trains from lunchtime.

Thameslink (Crofton Park/Catford): No idea yet, but Thameslink are also recommending that services will finish much earlier than usual.

Christmas Day: No service across the rail network.

Boxing Day: No service due to industrial action.

I think next week (when I'm working) I'll get a bus to Brixton (or better still Victoria line from Oxford Circus to Brixton) then the P4.
another 2 hours on a packed bus after a full day at work will make me a very bad tempered old woman!

You can also try the bus to Lewisham, DLR to Bank and then the Central Line. Bank station now has easier access to the Central line.

As you mentioned Oxford Circus, another option is you can get the Elizabeth line to Bond Street and use the Hanover Square station entrance, it's easy to find and only a couple of mins further from Oxford Circus tube.
