Hello Forest Hill Community

We hope you are keeping safe and well. We would love you to get involved with our Great Walrus Tea Party in June, please see details below.

Like tea? Enjoy cake? Throw a socially-distanced Great Walrus Tea Party at home or online on Wednesday 24 June to support the Horniman.

From the comfort of your own home, have a virtual get-together with friends and family, show off your walrus-themed bakes, and make a donation to support the work of the Horniman. Every penny raised will help the Horniman inspire future generations of London’s families and school children.

To receive a Great Walrus Tea Party fundraising pack with tea party ideas, recipes and an e-poster to send to family and friends, sign up online here or email teaparty@horniman.ac.uk.

The Horniman Walrus will be tweeting ‘live’ from his iceberg on 24 June, reviewing cakes and bakes, and there will be some prizes to give away.

If 24 June doesn’t suit, you can hold your tea party on any day in June - the most important thing is to have fun!

We can’t wait to see your walrus-themed bakes and tea party spreads! Tag us @HornimanMuseum and use #walrusteaparty to join in the fun on Twitter!

Only a week to go until the Great Walrus Tea Party on Wednesday 24 June! If you haven’t signed up for your fundraising pack, there is still time to register for it here.

As part of the Great Walrus Tea Party, we’ve got two prizes on offer for our two favourite bakes:

- The most creative cake will win a year’s Family or Gift Membership to the Horniman – giving free entry to paid attractions and access to special Members’ only events.

- The most creative biscuit or cookie wins a £50 voucher for the Horniman’s gift shop.

Both prizes will be valid for one year from when the Museum reopens.

To enter your creative cakes and cookies into the competition, share photos of your bakes by tagging the Horniman on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and using #walrusteaparty. The closing date for entries is 11.59 pm on 1 July 2020. Please see the full terms and conditions of the competition on the Horniman’s website.

Inspired by our iconic taxidermy walrus, the Great Walrus Tea Party is asking for donations to support the Horniman, which is still currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
