Mayo-Maker is great and I've been (and bought) in there and I've not been the only one!! You weren't watching those times. It's not unreasonable to want our area to improve rather than decline or stagnate and its great to see many contributors with real ambition for the area. Things are slowly getting better, perhaps not as fast as we'd like but this site has certainly given a voice to all who want this.

Yeah, but Mayo Maker, like Bunka, is the "right" side of the tracks. I thought we were talking about Perry Vale....

I'd love a deli in Forest Hill, it'd save driving to East Dulwich every weekend. Also if we're thinking of making a wish list I'd like a cinema, a petting zoo and Morleys Fried Chicken to stop using those rib posters in the windows of their chicken outlets! Rofl

Haven't they got a petting zoo at the horniman? Or can you not pet the pets? Smile

Here we go again:

We had a deli, it moved to CP back in the late 80's
We had a cinema, but it's now a big pub.
There is a zoo in Horniman Park, not sure if it's petting thou' ?
If it wasn't for ribs (or a rib), women wouldn't exist !!Rolleyes

One loud voice can make a difference !

As long as we don't get yet another take away - there's already too many in that stretch of Perry Vale.

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but does anyone know what is happening to the old Mercury TV shop? I've been walking past on the way to the train station for the past few weeks and it seems to have been converted into 2 units. One seems to have had some funky wallpaper put up so doesn't look like the usual chicken shop. Any ideas?

not sure about music studio - that would require sound proofing which this certainly has not got

although it was converted into two shops, I now see that there is an open passageway between the two, so maybe still going to be a double shop (the blinds are also the same colour).

I think there were letters against the wall spelling "The Hub" and there is some unusual furniture.

I noticed the hub sign along with a rather fancy large clock. Made me wonder if this is going to open up as a cafe/deli etc. Would be nice to have something like that this side of the tracks.

I agree. We deserve better than a fowl shop.

Wasn't the antique/collectible shop on dartmouth road that closed a few months ago called The Hub? Maybe they're reopening in a different location.

I popped my head round the door this morning, and it's going to sell 'painted furniture'. Launch party on the 16th May.

After voting last night i took a stroll to take a look at the new Mercury shop and i noticed something that looked like it might be a deli on the opposite side.

It's next to the ski shop and seemed to have a new or newly painted metal shutter and there were a couple of thoe refrigerator display units that you get in delis/butchers/fishmongers etc. Has this been there for ages and did i only notice yesterday or is something happening?

if it's the one that has a sign saying 'Indian takeaway', then I think it is going to be an.....Indian takeaway Smile

the No-Name Indian Takeaway has been there for ages I'm afraid. No activity at all for months despite the shop fitting

Can't say that painted furniture is a great reason for excitement for me personally, but good to see someone taking on the shop - will still check it out

I didn't see any sign in the dark, it's probably it though. Another non-fried chicken takeaway option works for me.
