Received from a forum reader - copy of an email sent from Lewisham Council to Cllr Paschoud:

Quote:
Dear Cllr Paschoud,
Member enquiry - Planning Applications - Access to Information 19826598

I write in response to your enquiry at 1 Waldram Park Road. As you know, permission was granted for a new hotel in 2019 under permission DC/18/106467.
Applications for approval of details were granted in 2021 under application DC/21/124741. The permission was implemented in 2022 and the previous buildings demolished and the site now enclosed by a hoarding.
There has been no further construction progress on the site, the planning service did receive a pre-application enquiry in January 2023 for alternative redevelopment which raised policy and land use objections and we await to see how the owners of the site wish to proceed.
Yours faithfully

Kind Regards,

Interesting response and looks like this could be a significant update on what is planned for the future of this site.

In pre-application circumstances (ie before a planning application is made) an applicant is entitled to have the subject matter of enquiries treated as being confidential, thus preventing Council from discussing the matter publicly.

Is this pre-application status conferred on discussions or enquiries that take place after application decisions have been issued by Council? Anyone familiar enough with planning law or Council policy to clarify whether confidentially validly applies in these circumstances?

It is worth noting that if the land-owner decides not to proceed with hotel construction, this will result in the loss of a second potential mid-range hotel development opportunity in Forest Hill. NOT good for business development in the locale.
