I am elderly now and have lived in the area for more than forty years. I read about knife crime and assaults in my area. I need soon advise on how I can be sure that I don't have a criminal or paedophile living next door to me. Is it possible to find out these things? I ask for some peace of mind. If anyone can advise where to look and who to ask, I would really appreciate it.

Thank You for your replay. I first contacted the police about advice and was not left with a feeling that they can help. I gave them all the information I had about a local person that has recently been to prison for child sex offences and is behaving in a way that has been worrying for some time now. I am would like to feel that prevention is better than cure... It seems that nothing will happen until they commit another offence?
Meanwhile, they live in plain sight and I am supposed to do nothing.
