We want your thoughts and comments about a flexible framework, likely to be delivered in phases, that responds to the current and likely future requirements of the Horniman’s ever-growing audience:

1. New Garden Arrival Square
2. Spacious Reception with Improved Facilities
3. Reorganised and Reimagined Museum Spaces
4. Nature Zone and Kindercafé
5. Stepping Gardens
6. Horticultural Hub and Winter Garden

You can read more about these plans online or via a display in the Museum - https://horniman.ac.uk/get_involved/news...e-horniman

We would love to hear your ideas at this initial stage of development – please share your comments on the Feedback Board the next time you are in the Museum or by emailing framework@horniman.ac.uk before Monday 22 July 2019.

Please, please, please take the time to read the proposals and respond.

What has been proposed by the consultants employed by the Trustees which the Chief Executive is responsible for implementing, will radically change Hornimans Gardens as we currently know it If the plans are agreed.

YOU have UNTIL 22nd JULY 2019 to provide YOUR feedback.
You can read more about these plans online or via a display in the Museum - https://horniman.ac.uk/get_involved/news...e-horniman

It is VITALLY
important that you give your feedback because if we don't the Gardens will be changed out of all recognition and I fear they will no longer be a place of peace, tranquillity and sanctuary between London Road, Westwood Park and Horniman Drive for both locals and visitors to the museum and Gardens.

The museum and Gardens say that they would love to hear your ideas at this initial stage of development –

Please share your comments on the Feedback Board the next time you are in the Museum or by emailing framework@horniman.ac.uk before Monday 22 July 2019.

Have your say, tell the museum and Gardens what your thoughts and views are, if you agree or disagree.

I fear the entire Gardens will turn into some sort of building site while the works are done and resemble a theme park, where it's all about making money. The Gardens were NEVER designed for this.

The fundemental changes are at:

2. Spacious Reception with Improved Facilities
3. Reorganised and Reimagined Museum Spaces
4. Nature Zone and Kindercafé

6. Horticultural Hub and Winter Garden

"I fear they will no longer be a place of peace, tranquility and sanctuary"

Well you could say that Camberwell Old Cemetery was just such an oasis before the redevelopment by Southwark that you were so keen to support.

Yeah, Camberwell Old cemetery was/is an overgrown unkempt mess.
The Hornimans Gardens are well cared for, however once the proposed plans have been agreed it will no longer provide a place of peace, tranquillity and sanctuary for both local residents and visitors.

The Plans for the Gardens means that it will be changed forever, just take the time to read through the lengthy consultation document they published.

So distressed about this proposal. Apart from the proposals themselves - whch are shocking - I don't think people have been adequately made aware of the plans, I only heard via the Forest Hill Society. Many people won't be members, and we've been given three weeks only in which to give our feedback. Most people are hugely busy, and I only just realised I've nearly missed the Monday deadline. It seems to me this has been pushed through without public awareness and without people who love the gardens and museum being given a real chance to resist these proposals. Unacceptable.

All looks rather splendid to me. It is high time the place was modernised nd had better signage and entry points. And to make full use of the gardens and grounds is an excellent idea. What is there not to support?

If you read the detail of the proposals (and no I don't trust this is just a consultation exercise, it's what they want to do to them), then you'll see the Gardens will be changed out of all recognition for ever.

Last day to voice your opinions on the changes proposed to the Museum and Gardens at the Horniman

Response received from the Horniman Gardens and Museum in response to feedback provided.

Thank you once again for your feedback to our Framework ideas – we really appreciate the time you have taken to comment.

The Senior Management Team have read every response received and it has been hugely helpful to obtain an insight into the priorities, likes, concerns and new ideas from everyone who has commented.

We will use your feedback to help inform a more detailed appraisal of the different elements of the framework proposed. Changes and modifications are likely during this stage, so we are extremely grateful for all the helpful thoughts and observations – they will give a significant steer to this phase of the project.

Then over the next six months we will develop business plans for some of the proposed elements to establish their viability and decide on priorities. I'd have thought they would have already prepared at least outline business plans, clearly not.

It is worth noting that the framework presented has a ten-year horizon (whatever that means, why use corporate speak, plain English will suffice) and the ideas contained are at their very earliest stage without any clear funding sources identified, so any detailed designs for a formal planning submission are unlikely to develop until 2020 at the earliest. (Why proceed if no funding sources have yet been identified or investigated)

Again, please note that should we decide to enter any formal planning submission we will certainly hold an open public meeting to discuss any proposals.

Once again thank you so much for your contribution and we look forward to keeping you updated on any developments over the coming months and years.

Yours sincerely,
Cookie Rameder
Horniman Framework Project Team
