Have Lewisham given up trying to control weed growth in gutters and on pavements? It seems to us that they haven’t tried at all this year with the result that some roads now look positively rural. Has anyone taken action and cleared weeds from the area outside of their house? I wonder how the council would respond?

They used to spray weedkiller on the pavements. It was done by someone driving a machine along the pavement.

I received a reply to my enquires and it seems the borough wide spraying programme will reach us soon.......
As a by product of the street not being sprayed yet, back in the summer we were treated to a few Prickley Lettuce plants appearing from where we know not. As it’s slightly narcotic you do wonder if folks had been cultivating it and it escaped.....
