Way to go Snazy...if only I could substitute the time I "waste" moaning on blogs like this and actually contact the council or whoever instead. I think if there was a central council contact point for Forest Hill it would make life easier for everyone.

Sounds like a job for a Town Centre Manager...oh I forgot we have one of them already. What exactly do they do then?

I would love to claim the credit on the tree, and was even gonna have a little wind up, but truth is, thats just coincidence (how honest of me)

I think it is about time there was something more central/public, and user friendly to raise issues, discuss them and resolve them.

Did think about setting something up, more structured, but not sure it would be appreciated.

I'm sure there was some talk before christmas about setting up a christmas committee so that our christmas tree decorations don't look as sad as they have for the last few years.

Is there any update on this? Or is there another local committe set up regarding forest hil?

(I have been watching way to many American sitcoms where local committees seem to rule the world so may be getting carried away)

Think a Xmas committee is an excellent idea. I propose that you, Holly, would make an excellent choice of leader. I will try to contact my old friend Ivy to see if she is interested. Only another 320 days to go so we really all need to get cracking on this.

I have also been in New England USA in May where they have all year round Xmas shops. Sad but another interesting window on American life.

If you only include the weekend and take away the bank holidays there is only 88 days until Christmas.

Am I the only one panicing about the lack of time. *pulls out hair*

Just like to congratulate the council for successfully erecting the Forest Hill Christmas tree at the same angle it was last year, well done!

I was also very impressed to see they have managed to successfully hang up the lights, using the revolutionary method of just dropping them on the tree from a great height, possibly a crane or helicopter. The drop method requires great skill and accuracy, the only problem with this method is that it leaves the overall decoration of the tree, in what can only be described as poor.

The tree does look better than last year. The blue lights makes a difference. But the lights attached to the lamposts as last year still look unattractive. The surrounding areas look so much better. I am sure we are the boroughs poor relation!

I wondered what that helicopter was doing the other night.

Will be in HOP, FH, Brockley, Ladywell and Lewisham (and Borehamwood!) at various points this week and will be inspecting all xmas lights in the hope we are not being lit short (goo pending). I missed the xmas events this past weekend and hope to see FH giving it some this Saturday
