Amazon as social condenser

It occurred to us recently that we have met far more people who live in our street through taking in parcels from Amazon (and others) and having them taken in for us by others than any other means aside from the children going to the local primary school. Who would have thought that one unforeseen consequence of the rise of the mail order behemoth would be casual doorstep conversations leading to the occasional cheery good morning greeting.

We were the last stop on our posties route so had all the forgotten mail which we used to have to then redeliver. You are quite right, it was a good way to meet people.
