Lately I have been in St Davids Coffee Shop enjoying the music, only to hear self-important whiney gits moaning that the music is distracting them from their precious "work" (ie inane social media drivel). Can't believe these people - either take your delicate ears to the library for your online fix in peace or (preferably) stay at home and stop trying to flaunt your ego to the rest of us. Rant over.

You sure you heard this Hillview, I was under the impression you may have read it, somewhere else....local.

I'm in agreement with the OP.
Cant get my head round people who sit for hours with one cup of coffee and laptop out in a cafe.
Many a time I've had to squeeze into a tiny space to eat my bacon butty and drink my coffee getting begrudging looks if I ask the laptop user if I may share their table.
I spend £7 and am gone within 30mins they sit there all day 'working' not really supporting the small buisiness.
I say laptop coffee shop workers should stick to the coffee chains but allow small local cafes to serve REAL customers,

Quite agree with you to a point HB but the OP was banging on about people not liking loud music and cynically saying that they had overheard it when it was more likely that they read it on another local SE forum with. Life in it.

I agree that sitting on one Latte for hours whilst on a laptop is not great for business but I do think that st David's has geared the downstairs area towards this. I am sure they will be able to comment though.

Yes, it looks very much like you've been visiting somewhere upsetting, Hillview.

The BBC lost any credibility some time ago.
So no snowflakes here - just a couple of foxes dancing in the garden.

Cafe wars! Unemployed freelancers on their Apple Macs vs the Mum's with prams vs the people that just want to eat bacon!

Decker, the mums in prams would have a devil of a time getting down to the basement room at St. David's Laugh

"Could we not talk about mums and prams - it's soooo off-topic." Wink

I, for one, cannot tolerate the tinny and insufferable noise that passes for "music" these days. Particularly not if I'm trying to enjoy a cup of tea and a newspaper. For this reason I avoid our local lunchtime eateries.

But this aside, as a new member of this website, I am under the impression that there is a private joke being shared amongst certain regular visitors. I would appreciate if the regular visitors here could clarify this joke, or avoid posting such cryptic references in future. It is not condusive to visitors such as myself.

Sorry, HillView - I'm afraid that doesn't help and I'm still at a loss. Anyone else?

Well it seems St Davids Coffee Shop management have upset the local Oberkommandos on a twitter group or some such, by perhaps not playing Wagner often enough on their premises or some other issue. And the remains of the dispute has annoyingly been brought here for general consumption.

I think the Cafe is one of the gems in FH and I hope they are not bullied into complying which ever way. I trust them to make the right choices for the majority of their customers.

Thank you Perryman. I have been told by others that Twitter is not worth bothering with.

And some on here stir up old, old long forgotten events that should be put to bed for the good of all.

Sill, it amuses them.

Welcome to the forum btw.
