I was walking home last night and noticed roadworks on Perry Vale near the junction with Dacres Road. I wondered if it was connected to the work being done on the water pipes but no, it was just the surface dug up on either side of the raised crossing near the school playground. And then I realised the raised crossing was no more and a zebra crossing had taken it's place! Not sure of the need for a zebra crossing in that location but I'm sure someone will be pleased.

That raised crossing for unknown reasons was very effective.
Cars would often actually stop to let you cross. Crazy!
A crossing that worked - no wonder they removed it

Having now used this thing, I can report it has the quality of a heap of tar that has just accidentally slid off the back of a lorry.
The central reservation has gone too.
It has a real 3rd world/developing country feel to it.
0 out of 10.

Judgement shall be reserved until the crossing is finished but hopefully if successful then we may get one further up near the train Underpass?

Whilst the previous raised area and central reservation did provide some security in crossing too many drivers ignored the attempts to cross and saw it as a challenge to initiate temporary flight to their vehicle.

The new 20 mph signs have had no effect whatsoever Confuseddifficult to see how or when they will be enforced? Speed bumps are pretty ineffective unless the span the entire carriageway as most cars can ride over without effect due to the width of the track unless you drive a Smart car as previously mentioned.

However we should be careful I used to live in a small village where the main lane had a 60 limit after much protest we got 30 signs. After 6 weeks a survey was carried out and 97% of speeding cars belonged to the villagers including the local councillor and most of the parish council and the Vicar!!
