Hi, just joined the forum, although have lived in FH for 10 years.

I have just been 'secret santa-ed' with someone from the US who has given gift preferences for 'something local to you'. Budget is ?15-20.

Any ideas for something really local? Or maybe even a good idea that is London specific. My mind has gone blank.

Must be suitable for international mailing.

Thanks

Z

Yep, that could have promise, thanks.

I will pop in and see if they have any prints or pictures of exhibits.

Any other ideas still much appreciated.

What about a set of Red Double Decker Salt and Pepper shakers. They are available from most tourist shops in the Victoria/ Buckingham Palace area. Take the 185 bus to Victoria, or the P4 to Brixton and then the Victoria Line.

I did think of Routemaster themed items, but am hoping to avoid too obviously tourist themed items.

It remains a firm backup though.

Cheers

If they still sell it, how about some Horniman's tea from the Horniman shop?

Sue

Staying on a transport theme, what about something from the London Transport Museum? Some of the items aren't too 'touristy'.

Online here http://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/LTM.html and you can probably get a lot of it at the museum shop in Covent Garden.

Something from the Dulwich Picture Gallery gift shop - I know not as good as Horniman for being local, but still near enough....

You can try e-bay but they've already sussed out the Secret Santa market. More fun searching 'unwanted secret santa' or 'unwanted christmas present' in the New Year - some great gifts including unwrapped ones where, for example, there has been a fall out. A friend in Edinburgh bought a Hearts bobble hat for a hibies fan as a SS (think he got confused), but perhaps that did not get as far as e-bay and was used to keep warm instead (on the fire)

That sounds awesome, but also likemit would be over the budget we have been set. Officially, 25 usd including shipping, although I will go a bit over for the right gift.

Thanks
