Is there any update on the large water leak on Devonshire Road (Forest Hill end) that has been going on for several weeks? I can't see anyone doing any work on this so far?

This morning about 9:30 am, I thought that I saw the leak site cordoned off with some evidence of digging. This was from a distance, so I could have been mistaken.

It definitely took a long while for them to take any action in response to the leak.

I also noticed that someone has been patching up the uneven/unlevelled paving slabs near the Old Post Office using fresh tarmac, rather than resetting the slabs. Does anyone know if this will be a temporary fix, or is it permanent bodge?

False alarm or forlorn hope. It was still leaking merrily on Sunday afternoon, with a lovely crater formed in the road.

We have a cordoned off street and a digger smashing into Devonshire tonight at 10pm. I spoke to the Thames water folk yesterday, they couldn't start the work in the day due to a stray parked car and no owner. Fabulously they have decided that sleep for us Devonshire residents is entirely optional and are merrily pole axing the road. Guess it's good news, can throw out my gondola and drive rather than row down the street.
