Just wanted to re-open this thread to see if anyone knows what's going on with from the forest cafe? It is coming up to a year since it has been closed!

I just saw on twitter that someone has taken on the lease and it won't be a coffee shop.

I've no idea where that info came from so could be rumour but thought I'd pass it along.

Really hope it re-opens soon, such an eyesore right now.

Can we have a like button please?! Agree with the last post. But also not sure if we can sustain another coffee shop. Don't really know how the rest of them survive.

Apparently not a coffee shop or estate agent but again, just going by twitter rumours so far. Fingers crossed.

Hope something happens soon, for the sake of people in the surrounding buildings. The squatters, gas leaks and fly tipping can't be fun to live with. And Pedder with their swanky new offices!

I heard today (from a not 100% reliable source) that it's going to be a nik-nak shop.

I'm hoping for walls of actual NikNaks (the snack food) but I think it might be just gifts and stuff that no one really needs. A bit like Bunka.

Better than an empty shop though.

Would that be the same Bunka where I buy gifts that I, er, need to buy? (Also clothes which I don't strictly need but really, really like)? Cool

Does anyone have an update on this? Doesn't look like there is any movement at all!

Unfortunately the new lease has not been signed. I understand that this has been delayed as the previous tenant came up with the money for the back rent, but the landlord does not want him back in there.

Looks like it will be empty for a while as the case wends its way through the courts :-(

Could we at least get some window art up there? Something not Horniman related to add some variety?

Just wanted to say how good the new (ish) Italian deli on Dartmouth Park Road is - I went there for the first time on Saturday and such a good selection ingredients and ice cream is delicious. A really brilliant addition to Forest Hill.

I know everyone is waiting on me posting on this thread as I always say it how it is. So hear I go! The Ice Cream is not Homemade because it is powder mixed with water, and is misleading to customers. This is a criminal offence!

I have reported it to FSA and they have until Friday to remove all traces of this.

"Dear Pauline

The premise in question was inspected (unannounced) on 22/06/2015. Alongside the routine inspection the mater raised by yourself was investigated.

Advice was given to the owners of the premises regarding the false declaration and this was confirmed in a letter on the 26th June. The letter states that it is an offence to falsely describe food in this way and they have been given until the 24th August to remove all traces of such claims. The time limit given is such as it includes the remove of such claims from the shop front itself.

Further visits will be made to ensure this has happened.

Kind regards"

Sorry I had to do this, but I need to look after my little patch after they openly copied and undercut myself and another trader when checking us out when we were busy.

Some might agree with me and some might not but I think I've done the right thing.

good to see the italian deli posting on behalf of itself.

And what a coincidence that Sugar Mountain has a broken window and eggs having been thrown at it this morning, following the above post.

I can't think WHO was responsible for that!
