I may have missed a thread but the last few times I've been past doopo doopo it appears to be closed. Is it just having a refurb?

It does look closed; not surprising really, not exactly wide market appeal from their weird and wonderful range of goods.

It seems to have been closed for a few weeks.

The shop unit was to let a little while ago, and under offer now I believe. I guess that means closed for good.

As someone who had stock in there, I'm not too sure how to take that, but it was nice to have a place in Forest Hill which gave opportunities to local artists and crafters to display and sell their products.

I really liked that shop, and there were lots of reasonably priced items that you couldn't find anywhere else that made great gifts.
However...I think for an artsy store like that to survive on local footfall they need to offer something else, courses like Stag and Bow for instance.
I would have loved it if Doopo Doopo had done one day jewellery making ,drawing or collage workshops for instance.
It will be a shame if its closed.
I dread another nail bar opening or dartmouth road.

I read somewhere recently that there are a few angry people seeking money from the owner.

Greensleaves that information is correct, many people had items in the shop on a sale or return basis and were not paid when they were sold. Also many locals donated to a "Go Fund Me" page for a cinema to be built in the basement which never appeared and they never got their money back either.

I've choose not to speak to Agata since I found out this was all going on and also told her I was aware of this.

I came across this flyer today. Agata is still using the basement space under a different name and as far as I know the ground floor has been taken on by another and is meant to be an off licence/convienience store.

As I thought. Always seemed a bit dodgy to me.

P1971, you should be very very careful about making comments like this on a public forum. Yes, the truth is an absolute defence but how do you know people haven't been paid?

I can only assume they told you and it may well be true but if those same people are pursuing the owner of Doopo Doopo through the small claims court, then that is a matter for them to resolve, either by reaching agreement with the owner or by taking it to trial and getting judgment. It is not a matter for idle gossip on an internet forum.

I know you tend to shoot from the hip and that is no bad thing in certain circumstances but unless you know both sides of the story then it would be better to stay silent and let people fight their own battles.

Errrm, hasn't the 'il mirto' operation (pizza restaurant, but run by same people) been in E Dulwich for quite a few years now? Or am i mistaken?
Don't want to open this one up again particularly, but they are hardly 'just starting out'.

Just saying.

Now, back to DoopoDoopo or whatever it was...

Hoona - from past posts I gather you are a Fairlawn School Mum, which I was too until last year, and so is Doopo Doopo. So maybe friends or kids in the same class?

Jodwin and Mr Robin Banks - welcome new posters, my guess is you like to cause trouble but I may be wrong.

All - I posted on this thread to make locals aware of possibly not being paid on items on a sale or return basis from a local shop.

Where I come from this is very wrong so just wanted to make locals aware of the situation. Sorry for being honest If I have upset anyone.

I think locals should be aware of this information to make their own decisions otherwise I would feel awful for not sharing and someone else being hurt by this.
