SE23 came joint 6th out of all London Boroughs for happiness according to today's report. But please spare a smile for our 'dreadfully dull' neighbours in SE26.

SE23 got a rating of 3.25, just a few points shy of 1st position SW6 (Fulham) at 3.75. We were also beaten by SE21, SE22, SE19, and SW13 (Dulwich, East Dulwich, Gypsy Hill and Barnes).
But don't be too sad about being beaten by Dulwich, we were still able to beat Clapham and Hampstead.

Sydenham was way down at 0.63, just a few points ahead of Catford at 0.52 (10th least happy postcode in London).

SE4 - the centre of 'Greater Brockley' managed a feeble 1.64. They will surely be disappointed to be trounced by Lewisham at 3.2.

Which is why we always seem to go to Forest Hill, Crystal Palace, Dulwich and other happier areas instead of Sydenham!

These rankings seem completely arbitrary, as far as I can see.

And also, as an SE23er, I'd like to stick up for Sydenham! I'd never been there before moving to HOP two years ago, and I absolutely love it LoveSmile

There does seem to be some arbitrary nature, just like London's top 7 picnic spots, but the scores would indicate some element of truth as well as some surprises.

Most people who spend time in SE23 have a positive regard for the area and that is probably true for the other areas in the top 10. It is nice when independent observers come along to confirm that the lovely place where we live is indeed a haven for happiness and a centre of helpfulness in this big city of ours.
