They were gone when I re-emerged with my cod and chips, though there were occasional shouts audible from my Dartmouth Road residence over the following couple of hours.


I think it's entirely possible to agree with a sentiment (defined as a general thought, feeling or sense) whilst feeling that there is an exception to the rule.

I think Michael's words were clear enough to brook no disagreement, personally, but there you go. Talk about 'sentiments' all you like, only Michael knows what they were.
