It's a nice idea, but as a resident, this is the first I've heard of it!

Not everyone has a facebook account, so can you share any more information here?

Will there be road closures? Will there be a noisy party outside my front door?Confused

Hi, myself and another neighbours knocked on all the doors on Colfe Road on 2 separate occasions, to collect signatures to ensure people were happy about the street party. We got very enthusiastic responses.

The council then agreed to the party and the road will be closed.

We then distributed fliers to every single house on the road telling them about the plans and inviting them to a meeting so they can discuss how people can contribute and decide on entertainment etc. (You must have missed your flier).

Our street party is part of the Eden's project national project- see http://www.thebiglunch.com/.

Remember it's to promote community spirit and neighbourly cohesion.

They'll be fun music, food and lots of entertainment for adults and kids, including a bouncy castle. It's a daytime event, not in the evening. We are currently finalising details.

We are all very excited about it and think it will be a great day.

Sounds fab! Thanks for the post. I've put in to join the fb group - we're just round the corner on Stanstead Road, but I don't think they'd let us close that for our own party, so we're going to have to crash yours. Thumbsup

Hi, I'm not really a facebook person, a bit old school unfortunately (maybe I should get with the 21st century :-)
hopefully won't miss anything though if you have some of the info here too.

No problem.

If you email me your house number, I can make sure you get some more information- kirstenjbrooks@gmail.com.

Otherwise, it's from 2pm-7pm on Sunday 7th June.

Here are some of the things we are planning on:

2 DJs (with the opportunity for kids to make requests)
2 bands
Cake stand
BBQ
Visit from community police and police horses

For the kids:

Face painting, balloon animals, biscuit decorating, dressing up area etc etc. Baby area.

Be great if everyone could bring some food out to share, tables and chairs and move their car before the event!

If you or anyone you know fancy baking a cake, or helping to make the bunting, just shout! Thanks

UPDATE- final planning meeting on Thursday 4th June at 8.30pm in the Railway Telegraph. Just to finalise details and delegate all small tasks properly. Feel free to come even if you haven't made any meetings before- the more the merrier!! Be great to meet more people intending to come and willing to contribute in some waySmile

We need volunteers for things like- making bunting, face painting, bringing clothes for kids to dress up in, raffle, setting up on the day. If you can't come, but want to help, email me on kirstenjbrooks@gmail.com

We also have a fundraising page- so please kindly contribute a few ££. This is a non-profit event, and any remaining funds will go to St Christopher's Hospice. We just need the funds to cover insurance, bouncy castle and other outgoings. See-
