Helicopter, cars and police on foot. Something's going down. Gonna have to check Twitter.

When I first noticed, the helicopter was hovering above the rail tracks just south of the Forest Hill train station. Police cars racing along dartmouth road towards the station, even police on foot.
Seems like a huge effort for a burglary suspect. They must have caught it in progress.

Surprisingly enough they do actually take burglary, and other crimes quite seriously.
When all the pieces fall into place, and the man power is available and near by, expect responses like these
Great to see the force in all its might.

They caught one of them in our garden (Ian Court, Dacres Road), but the other appeared to have escaped them

I was burgled 3 years ago and thanks to quick witted neighbours and the presence of a nearby burglary squad car the police gave chase and caught one of the culprits scampering off down the road. It does happen.

Saw three live policemen at FH station this morning and the CCTV camera car has been on Manor Mount for two days. Brilliant, keep it up please.

There have been some changes in the local police structures/duties which means that we should see more police on the streets, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings/nights.
Figures provided by the Safer Neighbrouhood's Team (at the ward panel meeting last night) show that there has been a general rise in reported crime in Forest Hill ward. The percentages increases are quite high (some 6% some 300%) but the actual numbers remain quite low. A more visible police presence in the local area during the long summer evenings is particularly welcome to stop this increase.
But keep reporting anti-social behaviour and criminal activity and damage. This can generate a rise in reported crime, but it gives the police more chance to prevent future incidents.
If you see the police in the local area please give them a smile or say hello. Make them feel welcome on our streets and I'm sure they will keep coming back!

Nicely said Michael.
Good to see people taking an interest and reporting incidents too.
