38 Degrees may succeed where the Forest Hill Society. I certainly hope so.

There seems to be a similar husting on the same day at St William of York.

No, I think that was the original venue but then the priest got cold feet and so the venue has been changed to the Honor Oak. Shame I can't make it - should be a whale of a time :-)

I'd love to vote TUSC but unless we get proportional representation it will seem a wasted vote. I will vote tactically, anything to stop the Tories gaining power.

I think meeting in a pub will favour UKIP as Nigel Farage always seems to be able to take refuge in a pub!

David Cameron won't attend in case he forgets and leaves his children behind!

I won't come unless someone promises to give away free sausage rolls!

MAY 8, 2015: "A shock election result last night as the Free Sausage Rolls party won 289 seats, and has agreed to form a coalition with the Pigs In Blankets Alliance, which won 64..."

Isn't the Honor Oak in Lewisham Deptford? Are you allowed to hust in a different constituency?

It is in Lewisham Deptford, but I doubt there is any rule against having hustings just outside the constituency.

Details from https://election.38degrees.org.uk/events...1430298088 suggest that all candidates with the exception of Jim Dowd have agreed to attend.

Dowd just spotted in the India Gate having a delicious curry. Clearly too busy for the hustings this eve!

Is that true?

Jim Dowd took a decision based on his principles not to share a platform with Liberty GB candidate. It is not for me to say whether this is right or wrong, but once he has decided not to share a platform there is nothing wrong for him to go out for a curry, and he could have chosen to sneak off to Dulwich for a curry, but he and his wife were sitting right by the window of the India Gate on the South Circular as Thorners and I walked past.

Jim is a politician, and I have a suspicion that he wanted to be spotted in a local Indian restaurant rather than on a platform with a racist.

Robin Orton's report is excellent - and the comments beneath it are priceless, too!

Michael, there were other candidates there beside "the resist" as you put it. Has he no respect for them or the other candidates?

The sitting MP tucking into a curry when everyone else is standing up and being counted in front of the local electorate? Lewisham and Penge West really has become a modern rotten borough.
