Hello,

Sorry I missed the last meeting of FoBHF. I'm still keen to run the kite-making workshops, and will come to the next meeting to finalize arrangements for this.

Best wishes,

Catherine.

Hello,

Just a reminder that there is going to be a hedge tidying and litter picking day on Blythe Hill Fields this Saturday (26 May). If you wish to attend, please meet at the crossroads in the middle of the park at 10.30am.

Glendale will be in attendance and will be supplying black bags and will have some tools but please bring gardening gloves and any secateurs/loppers if you have them so that there are enough to go round.

Also, we are still looking for volunteers to help at the Festival on 7 July. Please contact me on secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk if you want to help out. The festival is run entirely by volunteers and your help is crucial to ensure that it runs as smoothly this year as it has done in previous years.

Thank you

Leo Stevens
Secretary

Don't forget that the festival will be taking place this Saturday 7 July from 11am until 4.30pm.

Music from the Robin Bibi Band, Blues Patrol and the Stillness School Gospel Choir along with Punch and Judy, craft workshops, hot food from local businesses such as Babur and Hills and Parkes.

Hopefully the weather will hold up and I will see you all there.

A big thank you to everybody who attended the festival last Saturday.

The weather held off and we had a bumper crowd in the end.

Hopefully it was enjoyed by everybody but please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve the festival for when it is next held.

I have a couple of lost property items that I am holding if anybody has lost a red floral Cath Kidston bag or a grey and green Kangol Hoodie. Please let me know if these are yours.

If you have any photos or comments you are more than welcome to put them up on our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/groups/10388387145/)

A special thank you to everybody who volunteered to help out as putting on the festival would not be possible without the help of these volunteers.

I will post the date of our next meeting shortly but it is likely to be some time in September.

And a big thank you to you and anyone who help organised it. Thumbsup

As someone with a young child I find the event fantastic, and compared to some others with the location there is so much free space as well.

I've no doubt a huge amount of organising goes into this from people giving up their free time - anyone involved has my admiration and sincere thanks. Smile

ps what happened to the donkeys? Blink

Unfortunately we had a phone call from Seb Coe the night before the festival.

Due to the shortfall in the BOA budget, he was comandeering the donkeys to use for the British Showjumping team at the Olympics. They were already stabled outside Greenwich Park so there was no need to worry about getting them there and he figured that they would already feel at home.

In all seriousness, Len (the owner of the donkeys from Blackheath) was laid up in hospital so couldn't make it. Hopefully they will make a return next year.

Hopefully everybody enjoyed Blythe Hill Fields over the summer.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 12 September at 7.30pm at the Ackroyd Centre.

Also, we are also hoping to have another planting and tidying up day on 22 September in conjunction with Glendale. Once this has been confirmed I will post more details.

Hello,

Just a reminder that we will be holding our AGM on Wednesday evening (24 October) at 7.30pm at the Ackroyd Centre.

We will be electing new officers and committee, reviewing the last year's activity and discussing ways of spending some of our surplus for items for the park.

There will also be a planting day on Saturday 17 November to plant some hedge whips kindly donated by the Woodland Trust if anybody is interested in helping out then.

Minutes of our last meeting and the agenda for the AGM is attached.

Secretary

Hello, please find the minutes from our AGM attached.

We are holding a tree and hedge planting day on Saturday 17 November at 10am. Please come along and help plant the hedges that we have been donated from the Woodland Trust.

A link to a survey can be found below asking what you would like to see our reserves being spent on in the park. We have a small surplus that we are looking to put towards items and are also looking at applying for grants for bigger items if there is demand for us to do so.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7YDNZMP

As regular users of Blythe Hill Fields, your opinion is very important and we are a democratic organisation so want to canvas the opinion of as many people as possible.

The results will be discussed at our next meeting and Judith Simmons, the grants officer from Glendale will also be attending to see whether there are any suitable grants that could be applied for.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 5 December at the Blythe Hill Tavern so please come along for a discussion and some pre-Christmas drinks.

Hello,

Just a reminder that our hedge planting day will be taking place this Saturday 1 December at 10am. If you wish to attend, please send me an email (secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk) so that we have an idea of numbers and meet at the Duncombe Hill entrance to the park.

You will need to bring your own tools and gloves as Glendale will not be able to assist us.

We will be having our last meeting of the year on Wednesday 5 December at 7.30pm at the Blythe Hill Tavern so feel free to come along for festive drinks and a discussion about next year's activities.

Thank you

Leo Stevens

Hello,

We have just had a delivery of 1,750 spring bulbs thanks to a tip off from Judith Simmons at Glendale. We are looking to plant as many of them as possible on Saturday 15 December so that they will come up next Spring but need as many volunteers as possible to help due to the number of bulbs and the short notice.

If you are able to help, we will be starting the planting at 10am by the Duncombe Hill entrance to the Fields. Please let me know if you can attend by emailing me at secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk

Thank you

Leo Stevens

Hello,

Just a reminder that the Blythe Hill Fields Festival is being held this Saturday 6 July from 12 to 5pm.

There will be music from Ceri James and Siobhan Parr, who are both local singer songwriters, headlining will be Blues Patrol and there will be food from the likes of Babur, Hills and Parkes, Van Dough, Brunch 2 Buffet Caribbean Cuisine and the Avocado Cafe.

There will also be a funfair, the Surrey Docks Mini Farm, Punch and Judy, Childrens' craft tent and circus skills from Tea Dance for Little People.

Hopefully the weather will be as good as last weekend and we hope to see as many people there as possible. If anybody is also willing to volunteer as a steward or to help set up or clear away, please email me at secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk too.

Thank you

Leo Stevens

I couldn't stay very long due to other commitments, but thanks again for a lovely festival. Certainly the weather for it.

I particularly enjoyed munching the best sausage rolls EVER Laugh while looking at the old maps and pictures of the area.
