One of my customers has had meeting/s with V22. Looks like we might have a Saturday pop up cinema monthly or fortnightly if there is demand. Kids/family movie's in the afternoon and adult movie's in the evening. Fingers crossed.

I've known about this for a while and it's a fantastic coup for Forest Hill and the creative arts in the area. V22 is a highly respected organisation within the London contemporary art world. Great stuff.
Hope they get the project underway soon.

Hold on a minute!

I'm getting mixed signals here - with Red67 saying "V22 is a highly respected organisation" and P1971 talking about "adult movies in the evening".

I am so pleased that Forest Hill is getting a porn cinema.

It is one of things that the area has been lacking in for years.

Forest Hill is the new Soho.

Whatever turns you on. Might be something in here http://www.v22collection.com/events/screenings/ (V22 screenings archive) that tickles your fancy!

Trust Cellar Doors to lower the tone. First he shows us a picture of a massive cock and then he wants dirty movies in the old girls' workhouse.

But aside from misrepresentations of CD's good character, I'm really looking forward to some of the possibilities from V22. And even if it is too cultured for me, I think it will create a great balance in Forest Hill, bringing in new visitors who will come to Louise House and the Horniman.

Me, too.

They have a lovely website. It is beautifully arranged and there are some nifty little technical tricks (from an IT perspective) on the site.

I notice also that their shares are doing rather well in the last year. You would have nearly doubled your investment had you got in on them at the beginning of this year.

I think I know what you mean, Michael.

I often feel very intimidated by Modern Art and Performance. Over the years, I’ve been to a few events in London, New York, Singapore, Tokyo and Southend-on-Sea.

At all of them I always feel out of place. Like I should not be there. It is for other people. That kind of thing.

Of course, these are my own precious issues. And I’ll continue to see my Psychotherapist to sort them out.

It is lovely to read someone else thinking something a bit similar.

When you say "Horniman", are you obliquely referring to me?

Just to add that I should have included a few smiley faces in the above post. I like Cellar Doors, his contributions, and his massive blue cockerel.

But I'm sure this thread is excellent for increasing site traffic from Google.

I hadn't thought of that.

This thread is going to pop up on some of the more interesting Google searches.

I love it!

Anotherjohn, CellarDoor, Red67 and Michael these last few posts have had me in stiches tonight, and no I haven't had a trip to Lewisham A & E, just laughing. So sorry to have mislead you with my wording CellarDoor.

I emailed V22 to find out a bit more about what's going on at Louise House and got the following response:

Thank you for contacting us about Louise House, firstly may we say how excited we are to be moving to Forest Hill. We recognise that Louise House is an important building in Forest Hill; not only architecturally, but its position in the town centre gives it a special opportunity to become an important building in the civic life of the area and wider London.

Just a little bit about us, V22 is an art organisation which specialises in the collection of contemporary art, the production of exhibitions and events, the provision of artists’ studios and workshops at affordable rates within active art centres, and the running of community engagement and education programmes. We envision creating an art and community centre in Louise House and our first ideas include: working studios for resident and visiting artists; a project space for public exhibitions, workshops and events; an educational element which continues Louise House’s special history; and the possibility of both commissioned and community gardens.

Although we are very excited by what is possible for the future, we have not yet made any fixed plans. We know that the community has put an enormous amount of effort into saving Louise House for future generations and we want to work with the community in making these plans so that they reflect what is wanted, what is needed, and together we can build a vibrant art and community centre which really works for everyone for a long time to come.

You may of noticed that we have started some preliminary works in the building, and hope to be moving in late Spring however we really cannot confirm anything at such early stages. I am sorry I cannot give you any further details but hope the above information is of use to you.

Please feel free to ask any further questions, you can also join our mailing list and we will also be sure to host some introductory events once we have moved into Louise House.
