Friends of Mayow Park have just received some hedgerow whips

i.e. young native hedgerow species which can be easily put in to replace gaps, and which we also mean to plant along the southern path, opposite the bowls green, so improving the habitat for birds and other species - as well as humans.

Please come and join us planting them this Sunday, 9th November, from 1.30pm to 3pm, but don't feel you have to stay the whole time. We have some tools, but if you bring your own forks, spades, trowels and gardening gloves, it would be very much appreciated.

Bump - and we may also be talking about organising a Tree Dressing Day again in 2015, so join us if you want to know more / help.

Quote:
Tree Dressing Day
Tree dressing, in the first week of December, is based on many old customs from all over the world and at different times of the year.

Tree Dressing Day was initiated by Common Ground in 1990: we decorated a group of London Plane trees on the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue and High Holborn in Covent Garden with 150 large number, showing that EVERY TREE COUNTS! Since then, groups and individuals have dressed their trees all over the country.

Always the first full weekend in December.

Help to create your own social celebration of the trees in your place. This cross-cultural community expression for everyday nature could include storytelling, dance, music, hanging ribbons, shapes, shining lights, anything which draws attention to the trees we take for granted, an enjoyable first step towards taking more care of them.
