It is rather strange but I'm sure the specialised team have their methods.
Maybe they will assess increased demand by counting the forlorn people standing on a platform with no trains - or perhaps by logging the number of people who say darn it when they turn up to find there are no late trains.

If those late night services were evenly spaced out like Southern have FINALLY done from May 24th, (Oh, the irony!) it may make people change their mind about changing at LB after 11pm.
However for those of you who haven't read the latest FHSoc blog, the LOROL rep does mention that they may add later services from May 2011.

Hey Roz two great things about going to Dalston are the bagels, Ridley rd market shopping ( and if you get off a bit earlier ) the Geffrye Museum.

Saw an ELL train at FH today, looked very smart.

Apparently TfL will be giving away free tickets for ELL journeys on Sunday. Might be worth popping down to HOP or FH if that's the case.

Did anyone else receive an email regarding the opening of the ELL on Sunday this morning? It seems to be being sent to registered Oyster Card users who use our line.

Amazing- the day has arrived at last! I bet the trains are packed on Sunday.
Anyone know if the lifts at Shoreditch and Hoxton will be running?

I was really surprised to find, however when alighting at Shadwell, that the train exits are not level with the platform. It looks like it's all newly constructed - wouldn't this be an obvious thing to do?
Also surprised at the same station to find the lift's 'Platform Level' is still two flights of stairs away from the platform!
Anybody know why this accessibility is so poor - and if it is similar at all the stations on the new line?

So there is no level wheelchair/buggy access on this line? How did they manage that.

Looking at the tube map (and I cannot be certain of the accuracy of it from day one) it shows wheelchair access at all of the new stations but not at Shadwell, Whitechapel, Wapping, Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Penge West, or Norwood Junction.

New Cross, New Cross Gate and Forest Hill are all getting money from the DfT "Access for All" scheme by 2011 (hence our new lifts and footbridge). Honor Oak Park and Brockley are currently in the next phase (2012-2015), but I have heard rumours that funding may be cut.
Norwood Junction is also receiving some money and I believe that plans have been submitted to Croydon Council for a new footbridge with lifts. However, this is not from "Access for All" funds.
Funding for Whitechapel has been committed as part of Crossrail under the Tube Investment Plan (2009-2018)
Wapping and Rotherhithe have received dispensation to operate from HSE until ELLX2 opens next year. I do not know what will happen once ELLX2 opens. It may be that they are closed.
That leaves just Penge West, Surrey Quays and Shadwell,

Incidentally, London Underground has previously had a budget for spending on step-free access to their stations and is on course to meet its target of 25% step-free stations by 2010, so we are luckier than most.

As TfL were kindly giving free travelcards at FH today, I used the opportunity to ride the ELL.
The trains are impressive, despite being 4 carriages, there is plenty of room for passengers to cram on if needed during the rush. The only negative is the air conditioning is too cold, even on a sunny day like today.
Also took the opportunity to use the interchange at Whitechapel and Canada Water. Both have pink validators which you can tap your oyster to ensure you get charged the right fare via Zone 2 instead of Zone 1.
Canada Water's interchange with the Jubilee is so easy, a breeze compared to the walk from LB mainline to the LUL platforms.
I also went to New Cross Gate on the way back, missed a train, then 5 mins later another train pulled up, witht the Southern train only 4 mins behind. Now that's a proper Metro service...on a Sunday!
