Hi Tim et al. I posted up about the two water leaks on Manor Mount on the love Lewisham website on Saturday. I also noticed a BT truck parked by the leak on Manor Mount this morning and given one of the main leaks was from a BT cover I guess they are looking at that. Well here is hoping anyway.

A photographer from the South London Press will be outside 19 Manor Mount at 5.00 pm today. Your opportunity to show your concern about this issue, and as an added bonus, meet at least one of your new Councillors (Paul Upex)

Might be worth letting me know if you're coming - I wouldn't want to run out of copies of this

Sorry we missed you, but the photo, with Cllr Paul Upex and another local resident should be in the South London Press this Friday.

Send them down to Beadnell Road then, there's a veritable fountain down there!

Interesting that Thames Water have stated the leak is on private land, this week one side of the road has been dug up and now the other side of the road has been dug up!

Amazing, indeed.

I'm afraid I have some other things I need to get on with, so for the time being I'm giving this a rest, but if anyone else wants to try upping the pressure on Thames Water, get in touch - and I'd suggest also with Cllr Paul Upex.

I've had a couple of emails related to this today. One in connection with another local problem - location withheld - where it appears Thames Waste's sewer rats are infringing someone's cellar. The other from Kate Gould to say that the art work shown previously on this thread apparently infringes Thames Water's copyright.

Obviously, if Thames Waste want to make themselves look ridiculous, I will move to end the possible infringement of their copyright.

Tim, the mind boggles. Enough time to moan about the logo but not enough time to sort out leaks. The leak on Manor Mount is still there.

I've just written to Upex about this. Something has to be done. There is no excuse for how long this has been allowed to go on unresolved. I am so infuriated every morning when I walk down Manor Mount and see the same leak. How much is this costing? Every time I see it I fell like Thames Water, the council, whoever is just giving me the two fingers.

It's also worth copying in the Consumer Council for Water. Their email is

For what it is worth I spoke to TW today who re-iterated their assessment that the cause of the leak was on private property and thus it fell to the owner/freeholder to arrange for its repair.

TW understand a contractor has been commissioned but were unable/unwilling to tell me who they were or when they understood the work might start (citing erroneously the usual rubbish about the information being protected by Data Protection Act).

Seems TW does have authority to intervene if the work isn’t carried out within a certain – undefined – timescale. Their registered first notification about this leak was 1 May.

It seems the private property extends some way into the road. I wonder if the home owner can set up a toll booth?

Copyright infringement. You've got to be kidding me. Pathetic. There's such thing as Fair Use of copyright materials.

I think falsely accusing someone of copyright infringement is an offence in itself.

Funny thing is in the UK is that there isn't a proper "fair use" exception for copyright as there is in US law. There is a brand new (June this year) parody exception but it may be of limited help for artistic satire.

For those who are interested in the legal position, this blog may be of interest: http://ipkitten.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/i...dy_29.html

Coming down the hill this morning, sun in my eyes. I didn't see the ice on the leak and went down like a sack of spuds. Not a happy bunny. I dgas if the council says the leak originates on private property, I fell over on their pavement.

Will be having words.[/u]
