I note the Kebab shop has reopened as a fairly ordinary looking cafe. Hard to imagine it will be much use late in the evening.

Just what Forest Hill needed, though, eh, because we're so short on cafes.

I thought it was just a tart up of the old place to make it look nice (and I think it does).

There's a new kebab shop opposit Wok Express so you shouldn't have to stumble too far!

It looks quite posh (for a kebab shop) if you can overlook the horrible signage.

A posh new Kebab shop -thank goodness for that. Now all we need is a Tapas bar and things will really start to look up.

I noticed that on passing this morning. Shop facia is nice, then 'that' sign.

It looked even better when it contained glorious, glorious indeterminate meat product (with salad and pitta bread to pretend I'm a bit healthy) for the odd Friday when I would get off the train from work and need some delicious calories to celebrate the end of another tedious working week. Crying

Sorry my reply was in reference to the one on Dartmouth Road, not the one at the station.

I really like the signage of the 'authentic kebab shop'. Menu sounds good too. However, I agree that the one at the station is a very sad loss,

The Jolly Bee fish and chip shop opposite the station (with a current FSA Hygiene Rating of 5) has now started offering shish kebabs. I haven't tried the kebabs myself yet, but I'm planning on giving one a go next Friday.

I take away our evening meal there most Fridays and can recommend them very highly.

That's good news, the Jolly Bee probably didn't sell kebabs before because of the shop across the road. The guys in there are Turkish, I'm surprised they haven't introduced a few things like this before.

Two kebab options in FH - things are really looking up.

Yes, while I will miss the Turkish at the station (and the many happy memories inspired by its Doner) I'm looking forward to trying the new epicurean delights mentioned on these pages, the new Chinese/Japanese and the authentic Kebab shop whose simple, graphic signage has a certain restrained appeal I think, to the point anyway!

I have to say in latter years I have migrated away from the Doner of youth towards the Shish of middle age so the Chippy's offerings may be just the ticket.

Just a word to say that Authentic Kebab is actually really good. Also my partner doesn't eat meat and said that their fish and chips was good and cheap too - just as good as Jolly B he said (which we have been going to for years). Overall, a really good Shish - recommended!
