Forest Hill SNT would like to make the local community aware that there has been a slight increase of motor vehicle crime accross the ward.
The team would like to remind residents to make sure their vehicles are secured at all times.
Below is some crime prevention which you may find useful:
• Don't leave any items on display Even an old coat might tempt a thief to see if you’ve left anything in the pockets.
• If you can’t take everything with you, lock everything out of sight in the boot. Thieves look in the glove box first of all.
• Never leave car documents or spare keys in your car This makes a stolen car too easy for a thief to pass on quickly.
• Make sure there is nothing to indicate your mobile phone is in your car. Keep a note of it’s IMEI number (key in *#06# and note down the 15 figure number)
• Never leave your Sat Nav in the car and remove the support cradle and suction pads too. Wipe away any suction pad marks left on the windscreen or dashboard – thieves will look out for these.
• Always remove CD players if you can.
• Whether removable or not, all equipment should be marked both visibly and permanently with the vehicle registration number.
• Make a note of the name, make, model and serial numbers of all property which is sometimes in your car. Record that information on immobilise.com
