Just an update to say that - finally - someone very helpful indeed at Skanska took on my problem and the light has now been moved to a much better place. Now that everything is switched on I can say that I like these new lights. They illuminate the pavement and road very well without extending back as far as the house fronts - we have small front gardens which helps, but even so I can see an effort has been made to control the light pollution.

Now all they need to do is remove the old lamps and fill in the very large holes..... But I'll let someone else make that particular fuss. Kudos to Skanska Customer services, though.
