A word of warning, a lady was mugged outside our house last night at 5.40pm by 5-6 black youths maybe 15-16 yrs old, our house is halfway along Grierson Rd. They pounced from behind, dragged to the floor by her bag strap and kicked whilst they tried to wrestle her bag off her. We heard her screams and went outside, the youths ran off empty handed.

We took the lady in and the police arrived. They believe they know who the group are, as its happened before, they follow commuters getting off the train at HOP down the darker streets.

Be careful out there and keep yor wits about you.

Well done for helping.

I hope the police are increasing they patrols in the area if they know this incident was not a one off. They might even catch the culprits.

So early too! How frighening. I'd like to see someone break their nasty little thieving heads next time they try it. If they were all hospitalised it would be too good for them.

Six men attacking one woman. I'd dress them up in tutus and high heels and parade them up and down the high street. I doubt they'd understand why though.

David cameron has a theory about burglars and human rights.
Perhaps it should be extended to muggers as well.

I 100% agree.
Could not believe my ears when heard about us having to pay for TVs in every crims cell. More like The Hilton.
I understand The French have much tougher operations and for once I say Well done France

Well done tricky!
This place needs more do'ers and less onlookers these days. Thumbup

hope she was ok and is not too shaken about the whole matter.

Cowardly little scrotes, they need jumping themselves!

So awful to hear. I hope the lady in question is OK. Was mugged myself a few years ago. It was only one guy, but that was more than scary enough. Well done for responding so quickly!

Particularly hit me as I often walk down Grierson road, on the West side of HOP towards Gabriel street at that time. Which side of Grierson road did this happen?

The lady was shaken up as you would expect. It happened on the East side of Grierson, opposite the junction with McLean Road

Really sorry to hear that.

Have you let the police know about it?

We've had quite a lot of contact with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team - usually we are in contact with Katherine Langford there - on Katherine.Langford@met.police.uk or 0208 721 2485

Yes we got the police around straight away, they were pretty good, wanted to drive the lady around to have a look for the youths, but they then decided to wait to get her checked out by the paramedics who were on their way.

My husband was also mugged a few years ago walking down Garthorne Road on the junction to Ackroyd Road. Again it was a gang of youths on bikes with sticks. They appear to be opportunist muggers who wait down the side streets to see if anyone happens to be by themselves. That time, the police said that they seemed to be riding up from over the hill, Peckham way.

I have to say that I have lived here for ten years though and these kind of occurences are fortunately very rare.

Perhaps Rob Blackie at 8 Woodham Road Catford should read Post No.1 which clearly said that the police were called and stop wasting everybodys time asking daft questions on behalf of his partner when the answers are right there on the screen.
I know about the problems that occur around HOP station because I live near there in SE23 and not SE6 like Rob Blackie. Perhaps Bob should be more interested about incidents around Bellingham station, since you live so near and quite a long way from this part of the world.

It seems that Tam Langley is Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Lewisham Deptford - and she's a woman.
