To fellow Guardianistas, as we appear to be a large group amongst newspaper readers judging by the piles of papers in the shops locally, is it not time to stand up for ourselves (and be proud)?

Perhaps some epithets for those who read alternatives (some of which perhaps do not warrant the name 'newspaper') are called for?

Oh, maybe not, after all we are too liberal and 'politically correct' to indulge in such behaviour.

Please feel free to do so but you must wring your hands in an anguished way whilst doing so Laugh

I love how right wing Daily Mail types call all sensible, liberal, people, who believe in human rights 'Guardianistas', likewise anyone who believes women should have equal opportunities 'Feminazis', or those who stand up against intolerance, racism and sexism 'members of the PC Brigade'. They're just names used by small minded people who worry that their bigoted way of life is threatened and, as such, I don't need feel the need to enter into any sort of argument with them.

Wait for 'had a humour bypass?', 'it's only banter', 'get a life' etc kind of comments...

I can't say that I know him personally, but I've read his biography and been to his house a few times. In his defence, he is quite famous and his dad is a kind of a big deal.

Bonus points to Sandy for that three minute prediction.

With regard to Jesus, I believe he would have been labeled as do-gooding liberal. The fact that he was nailed to a cross was 'just a bit of banter' and he should 'get a second life'.

And I suspect quite a few of those who criticise 'guardianistas' for their attitudes would claim to be Christians.

So Hoona, you would exclude a group of people because they don't agree with you or the way you think. I hope you can reflect on the irony of your statement.

Criticism/disagreement is not the same as denigration and you seem to base some of your assumptions on a rather small sample of acquaintances.

Sandy, please read post 44 on the original topic.

edit: plus, I have a very small circle of acquaintances being a Daily Mail reader in FH :-(

What he said. You can loathe types who spout c**p like "feminazi", "it's only baaantaahhh", "it's PC GONE MAD!" and still find Guardianistas as profoundly irritating on account of their hypocrisy as the stereotypical DM types are on account of their ignorance.
