Some slightly worrying news. I heard through a neighbour, who's phone was snatched from her hand while walking home last week, that the police have had 5 reports of similar thefts in the Honor Oak Area – specifically Garthorne and Grierson roads. Many of the muggings/thefts happened early in the evening (around 6:30pm) in the poorly lit streets mentioned. These may or may not be related to the Catalytic converter theft mentioned in an earlier post – however, it does appear the area is being targeted by thieves. On a positive note – the police have said that they are going to be increasing their presence in the area and I'd like to think they might feedback to the council that the streets need better lighting.
