Roz - nice work if you can get it, agree this should be where the cuts should be made as this will surely only get peoples backs up if they see cuts for various essential services and then this happens, lets hope that Ex Pat does not see this, otherwise there will be another rant

It's like Turkeys voting for Christmas. Officials never decrease their budgets. Shame we didnt have a Mayoral candidate who's policy was to disband the mayoral function and put the funds to better use!

We did. Both John Hamilton and Chris Maines campaigned against the position of Mayor and pledged to hold a referendum to abolish it.

Gingernuts - I definitely remember it being in more than one of the mini-manifestos from mayoral candidates published as a booklet and put though every door in the borough.

This is exactly why we shouldn't let the hoi polloi vote, as they are ill-informed and ignorant of the facts, regardless of however much you try to educate them, distirbute leaflets etc.

(And please note, before the outraged posts come flying back, this is written with a tongue firmly in cheek).
