An elderly tom, black and white with distinctive half black moustache is persistently at our backdoor (half way up Honor Oak Park).
I'm told that he may belong to someone with a lot of cats and in the past would usually spend time sunning himself in one of the back gardens near us before heading home but it now seems that he doesn't go home and is always mewing for food and attention even late in the evening - often just a few minutes after he's been given a tidbit. He has tried to enter our home some times.
It would be good to know that he has an owner to whom he returns in the evenings and is just being cheeky.

If it's an ongoing thing you can always pop him over to the vets to be scanned (most pets are chipped) and have the vets call the number associated with his chip. Sometimes owners die and the pets are abandoned if there is not a strong support network around the deceased owner. Or the owner is an irresponsible *&£@ and moves without taking the pets? Hard to know.

Good point thank you.
I checked with a neighbour who knows this cat from way back - apparently neutered but not chipped.
We’ll monitor the situation for a bit longer before seeing what to do for him.
Thanks again.

You would be much better off contacting Croydon Animal Samaritans who are brilliant.

Last 2 times I contacted Celia Hammond about a stray and an adoption they were not helpful at all.
