Seriously.
I'm considering it.
Cleaner, fresher, the wonderfully uncomfortable beach, more house for your money...

1. I went there yesterday and it was raining.
2. Call that a beach? Where is all the sand?
3. Too many Londoners and other tourists ruining the place for local people.
4. Everything rusts.
5. They didn't look after the West Pier, clearly the local council do not look after great architecture.
6. House prices are not significantly lower than Forest Hill.
7. Highest rate of intravenous drug use in UK.
8. Second highest rate of drink related deaths in England and Wales.
9. The whole town has to stop for the Labour Party or Conservative Party conference every year.
10. What will be left with global warming and sea level rises?

Sorry I can't think of any more at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I love Brighton. A great place for the weekend.

Nice place to visit, not sure about living there. Have you been there in the middle of summer?

Platform 5, London Bridge, Friday night, last train to Brighton. You would need a months in a controlled facility to get over it.

I absolutely can't stand the place.

Whether that's a reason for moving there or not, I'm not sure. And yes, what Elizabeth said.

Yes I've only been on hot sunny days and loved it.
I guess it will feel different in the winter but I reckon it would still be nice taking a stroll along a cold, windy beach!

The last friday night train sounds like fun?!?!

I would probably still need to work in London so the commute might be a pain - anyone experienced this? (apart from the friday night one!)

There were two or three people in my work place who moved to Brighton. They have since left to work closer to home as the commute was incredibly tedious, so make of that what you will.

Apparently it was not so much the London to Brighton trip itself, but crossing London once arriving at Victoria or London Bridge. Plus, at least one of them lived a good 30 minutes walk from Brighton station (couldn't afford to live much closer), so that all added to the misery.
