We're now putting plans together for the third annual One Tree Hill arts Festival in May 2014 based at St Augustine's and we'd like to hear what you think would be good to include.

In previous years we've had: orchestras, opera, musical theatre, jazz, folk, local choirs, spring fair with stalls, kids show, art exhibitions, spoken word...

Are bank holiday weekends a good time or best to avoid as people are busy?

We'd love this to grow further into a community run festival with input and ideas so if you'd like to help and be involved or if you have an arts event that could tie into the festival - let us know.

What about a scratch choir event, where a group of singers of all abilities gets together with a choir leader to learn a choral work in a day? Great fun.

Personally I like local events on bank holidays because travelling is so ghastly I never go away for bank hols.

Thanks!
Thanks for your suggestion,

We think we might run an evening event called
'The St Augustine's Sing Off!'

An event where choirs compete to win. BUT we'd love to have pop up choirs eg, neighbours from a street, local businesses, toddler group parents, community groups.... so its as much about enthusiasm and getting involved as it is about quality of singing. prepare one song - and the more pop up choirs, the merrier!

Anyone interested?!
Hi Ed and Jane

I think what Jane has suggested would work great on a bank holiday weekend.Thumbsup

I also think a wider variety event would work better avoiding bank holidays as a lot of families go away. Maybe something along the lines of FH has talent could work well where all types of local talent is welcomed, from dance, to juggling, to singing tamla mowtown!

I did organise a local school summer fair event a few years ago which was --- has talent and went down really well.

Ed i'm more than happy to help out where I can with this as it's the kind of thing I love getting involved with. ThumbsupThe only thing I can't help with is singing as I'm awful.
