We'd like to get quotes to convert our loft from good reputable loft companies, if you have had a recent positive experience & are willing to recommend please can you pass their details on & if there is anyone we should avoid we'd be grateful to know those too many thanks in advance
Will PM you, Helen.
Would you also be able to send me the details? It's impossible to find a company who will respond - I've been trying to book someone in to look at our loft for over a month with no success!
I am having a similar experience so would welcome the recommendation too (sorry!). So far I have found Dulwich Lofts very responsive, they arrived on time and emailed a quote when they said they would.
I can't recommend any firm but would advise you to steer clear of Classic Lofts (based in East Dulwich).

Customer service was terrible, staff were rude and unhelpful, several jobs were botched and had to be rectified and they tried to add extras onto the bill at the end.

I think perhaps they are used to dealing with compliant customers who simply hand over cheques without asking any questions. When we queried why they did things in a certain way (that we considered to be corner cutting) it did not go down well.

Given that we were paying a large sum of money for them to do the job for us, we considered this to be unacceptable and they rapidly lost interest three quarters of the way through the job.
I'm so sorry to hear of your distress this is awful, many thanks for sharing this and I will definately steer clear.

Kind regards

Helen
Hi I am also looking for a recommendation for a good loft company, would you mind sending me the details as well please? Thanks very much
Suggest you try James Taylor Building. He has done building works for us (kitchen and bathroom) and seems to be building lofts for everyone in our vicinity. There's a link to his details here

We had a great experience last year with Outlook Lofts. Happy to give a more detailed recommendation if anyone wants to send a PM.
To save sending PM's individually to all, I'll post thie info, seing as others have also done so, without being removed by Admin.

We had ours done recently by a company called Loftlife. We have a 1930's semi. They have, apparently done several in our street over the years. As loft converters they were good, but beware of the sub-ccntracted specialist trades - the roofers were excellent, the plasterers good, but very messy (though I believe that's par for the course), but dear god their plumbers were abysmal.

I've also heard good things about the One Stop Loft Shop in Sydenham.

The Classic Loft Co. are also very active locally, but I've not heard them positively recommended. (As already mentioned by a previous poster). To a certain extent you get what you pay for.

Also, one of the companies we had a quote from wanted us to pay their builders in cash at the end of every week, from which we ran a mile!
I have have just had my loft done by Selcom, a local firm with an office on Brockley Rise. They were brilliant. I left them with my keys and went to work every day, even on holiday and had no problems. Found them easy to deal with and they came up with solutions to a few issues in the house. All in all, a good company and no where near as stressful as I thought. Also not as messy - but they hoovered every night!
