As I was leaving the station at around 3.30pm today there was a lady hanging around the station carpark stopping passers by and asking for money.
I've not seen her before, she was plumpish, about 30 years old and wearing tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt.
At around 7pm I was leaving my house and I ran into a near neighbour who was a bit shaken up, she said she'd been leaving the station, on the phone to her husband, when the woman I've described approached her, and asked for money, as she did so my friend was aware that she stared at her phone, and glanced at her bag,....my friend gave her no money and walked on up London road, she then became aware that the woman was following her, and was so close that in the end my friend stopped dead, walked round round her and headed back towards the tube and the main road-deciding that if she was going to be mugged let the woman do it in full view of witnesses. needless to say the woman moved off.
I just thought I'd warn people.
Yes, I've seen her in Forest Hill. Blue/grey tracksuit and long greasy hair. She looks like trouble, so best to avoid/ignore her.
Subsequent discussion of words to describe this person moved to the Usage of English thread.
