I'm lovin' the stuff on at the Horniman.

Despite living in HOP for 7 years and now FH for 3.5 months, up until 10 days ago, i had only been to the Horniman twice, both times to the gardens (no jelly mould malarky to be seen!) and to look at the fabulous views.
Then my friend said 'let's go to the Aquarium at the Horniman!'
I've not had such fun since I was about 12. It was fab.
Perhaps I haven't been spoilt by the London Aquarium or some other larger 'water-based theme park' but it's on my doorstep and it's free.

What more can you want from your immediate environment?

Over in Dubai they are reporting on snow in England with a photo from the Horniman Gardens - surely one of the best places to spend a snowy winters day.

News is coming in of the award of £900k to Horniman Gardens for their plans to develop the gardens and build a new education centre.

Last weekend I noticed that one of the trees in Horniman Gardens is actually an Ent from Lord of the Rings.

I would tell you where it is but it has probably moved on by now!

The Jerk Cookout may be gone but the Horniman are planning two new exciting festivals in the gardens this summer.

Can anyone explain why the shrubs in the Honiman gardens have been removed??

It looks absolutely dreadful.

I think they are starting construction work this winter and that will mean that the gardens are not quite so beautiful for many months. The end result will be even nicer gardens.

I hope they do improve as the decreasing number of shrubs is becoming quite a concern!

Congrats to Ros, Gingernuts and the gang for getting the Jerk Cookout kicked out, was good fun going to Brockwell Park and having the same experience in a much larger space.

Somehow I noticed that the new events that the Horniman hosted didn't attract the same kind of people as the Jerk Cookout, mission accomplished!

Glad brockwell park suited the occasion better. The type of people Horniman events now attract are people less stressed because they can park easily or walk to the venue, rather than driving around in circles for ages looking for somewhere to park becasue the event is over subscribed.
