The Forest Hill Assembly will take place on Monday 21st May 2012 at the Horniman Museum. Meeting starts at 6:45pm including a short tour of some of the new facilities in the gardens.
Residents of Forest Hill Ward should have received, or will be receiving, flyers through their letter boxes.
I can't remember what is on the agenda as my flyer is at home, but it will include the beginning of the opportunity to bid for local assembly's funding for small projects in the local area. There is £15,000 to bid for this year.

Not a bad turn out yesterday, although the majority seemed to be the 'usual suspects'. Where were all the forum regulars and where were the 200 people who come out to object to nurseries?
The local assembly is an opportunity to make a positive difference - flowers, swings, toilets, orchards, theatre spaces, assistance for house-bound elderly, assistance for young homeless people, and shaping the future of Forest Hill.
The next assembly for Forest Hill will be on Monday 8th October when we will be voting on funding for more projects to improve Forest Hill. It would be great to see a few more people there.
Is there anything that stops people attending? What would encourage you come to the local assembly on 8th October?

I would've been there but I didn't get home from work 'til late. 6.45 is quite early.
Michael we did meet once - I went to that Lewisham council meeting when a petition was handed in about the Charing X trains being cut.
So now I've blown my cover!
I couldn't come because I had a prior engagement at the school. We only got a flyer through less than a week before, so the extra notice you have given about the next meeting is great. I'll mark it on the calendar now.
I was interested to hear the news about louise house though. Can you full us in on developments?
I would love to have gone, but did'nt get home from work in time as I work in the West End.
It is just far too early- I have young children. My partner is barely home by 6.30pm on Mondays and then we have to do the bedtime routine so cant usually get out to anything until 8pm. 6.45pm is therefore out of the question. Could cope with 7.30pm though.
I agree 6.45 is too early. For most with children it is unlikely that both partners would be at home before 7 pm.
If one parent does the morning duty of taking to nursery / school, the other is already at work, so that chldren could be picked up before closing times of nurseries / school clubs.
I agree - 6:45pm is impossible for me, and that's with older children. None of us pause for breath until 7:30pm at the earliest.
agreed - 7:30 would be the absolute earliest we can do anything and that depends largely on whether one or other of us could get home from work in time to relieve the other of childcare duties.

I have to agree with these sentiments. Though I did go to the meeting, it was the first time I had been to one or indeed could have gone to. Had to jump through quite a few hoops to manage it.
Echo all the above, with the added proviso that all I want do after the day job followed by feeding, watering and generally sorting everyone else out, is to fall over in front of the TV with a large glass of wine, not go out to a meeting.
In my defence, I did go once, and it was really interesting - and the cream cakes were superb. However, SE23 is so good for keeping up with local affairs that I get all my fix from the comfort of my own laptop (with the aforementioned glass of wine).
Cream cakes? Why has no-one mentioned such delights before??! That changed things entirely :-)
