Great news for Con and all the staff. I do enjoy going in there. Will be there on monday for St Patricks eve drinks. They are doing a traditional music session.

I have lived in SE 23/26 for 59 years but do not believe I have ever visited this establishment.
1. The Pub is clearly in SE 6.
2. Beer was excellent , staff also very polite and friendly
3. Liked the fact it is still 3 separate rooms
4. Downside . I had only sat down about 2 mins when I had counted at least 3 Felixstowe words. Not the sort of place you would take a lady.
More positive than negative but surprised CAMARA claim this is the best pub in SE London, but I guess this says something about the CAMARA beard and spectacles brigade. Until recently you had to have an outside convenience with no wash hand basin to be allowed in.

Re Post code. Coming from Forest Hill the road before claims to be SE 6. If it is SE 23 then really wierd , must go back to SE 23 leaving an SE6 enclave .
My visit was about 5.30 pm. Tend to switch of programmes with excessive swearing. Do not mind the occasional word but if in every sentence , seams pointless. I believe the English Language has over 500.000 words , plenty of others to utilise.
As I summed up in general liked the Pub

Depends on whether your 'lady' is the sort to get upset by people using one or two of those thousands of words.
The one I would be most likely to take there would be far more offended by your characterisation of CAMRA and its adherents.

Blythe Hill Tavern is an important part of the diversity of drinking establishments in SE23. While not my favourite [and I have posted a less positive review on this site - but mainly to wind up BaggyDave] I can understand why people like it.
Once you get over the 'we haven't seen you in here before' looks from the regulars everybody is very friendly. I don't personally like the layout with the front room that feels like somebody's living room, the bar area with little room to sit except for at the bar, and the back room - which is relatively pleasant (if you sit a little distance from the toilets). The garden looks really nice and is probably the nicest pub garden in SE23.
Personally I prefer not to have sports on the TVs in every room, but then I also like to smoke with a pint, so I have learnt to make compromises.
I did not notice any Felixstowe language referred to above, I probably assumed that it was Gaelic.
With regular traditional music, good beer, and a nice garden, the biggest problem with this pub is the bus ride home. The good news for all those who don't like this pub is that there are another 12 pubs in Forest Hill from which to choose.

I accept maybe I called at a bad or unusual time re bad language. I was in the back bar , maybe that is worse. Not sure what is the old Public rather than saloon or snug.
Re CAMERA I apologise if I have upset anyone. I have been a member since it started but avoid all meetings as usually they are zealots who think every change is bad. They seem to want pubs as they were in say 1965 , in a time warp. The reason keg and lager took of when they did was because many landlords in 50's and 60's had no idea on how to look after real ale. Fortunately the pubs that do still serve real ale normally look after it well.

To answer Michael's questions - bus ride home? What is wrong with a stroll, and in any case as you are all fans of the Oyster card it is only ?1.80, cheaper than a pint and well less than 10 fags.
And with regards to the other pubs in Forest Hill, apart from the ones that are restaurants they all have tellies in them. The good thing about BHT is that apart from big footy matches they do not dominate the rooms, that they often have a choice of sports on including the Gaelic ones (no plastic paddy pub this one), and I believe I even saw Crufts on there once.
